MOUNT 'BENGER JOCKEY" CLUB RACES.
' The above races were held at Moa Flat racecourse on Monday and Tuesday, the 29th •and 30th tilt. There was a fair attendance of visitors. The usual habitu6s of the raeecouTses — bookmakers, cardsharpers, &c. — were -conspicuous by their absence. A goodly number of the "fair sex graced the course with their presence. The occupier of the booth, M-\ R. M'Leod, did a very good business; the warm dry wind, especially on the first day, made claret punch and other cooling beverages very acceptable. Mr. R. Patrick had the ' refreshment booth, and supplied tea, coffee, and sandwiches to tho Good Templars and " others who preferred the non-intoxicating drink?. The particulars of the various events ■are ap'pcned below, Nothing in the racing was particularly worthy of cominert. Ihe two principal races, namely theMoui t Benger *nd Publi. an' Handicaps, went to Tuapeka, ' also the Consolation Stake.
