AN ACCUSATION.
( To the Editor. }
Si», — I can give you a "companion picture " to your paragraph on the subject of the Timaru editor sneering at the Premier, because he (Mr. Yogel) is a Jew. Not very long ago, Major Batbgate-'s regiment wanted a bugler> and an ex*bugier, formerly in a firstclass Irish regiment, applied ; but although he biowed in a style that would have charmed even a Trollope, the Major said to. him, "We have plenty of candidates without having recourse to Irish." There is a telegraph wire between Melbourne and Europe, I really think that 3>r. Featherstone should be asked to advise all young Irish mothers immediately to vacate Ireland. What an awful thing to think that there are some of tho Major's own countrywomen in Ireland whcie children may be born on the " sod^" — I am, &c,, Anglo-Celt.
