SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS,
(To the Editor^
SlB, — I would like to hoar questions liie the following asked at the approaching school examinations :— Who reigns over the British colonies now? Who would succeod Queen Victoria on her demise? (A British monarch never "dies," -and "demise" is always substituted for "decease" in relation to royal deaths.) Name the Republics of the world? State the causes and consequences of the Crimean- and Franco-Prussian wars ? Name the chief men connected with these- wars ? Where did Louis Napoleon die ? What relation is the present King of G-reece to the English royal family ? What is tho probable cause of the- extensive Irish and German emigration to the United States of North America ? Tell me the duties of a New Zealand Superintendent, Parliament, Governor, &c?
The foregoing are merely suggestive N Superior questions- could be asked. Gur catechism should be contemporary as well as ancient. Knowledge of Greece, Borne, and of old England, and ignorance of passing history, is not education. — I am, &c., Pabent.
