Sib, — Doubtless, "A young wife and mother" wrote generally when she stated that a Good Templar Society, if suitable for women at all, was ehieflj suitable for " wouldbe drunken women ; " but ladies in Lawrence are liable to " put on the cap," notwithstanding the fact that it docs not " fit." Sir, there is not one "would-be drunken" woman in the Lawrence Templar Order ; and I hope, in self-defence, for I feel aggrieved, that you will not consign this, my emphatic contradiction, to the waste paper basket. The Lawrence lodge is increasing, sir ; at present, it is necessarily officered temporarily, and perhaps not with complete «fficiency, but zeal has characterised its proceedings from its start. But I will gladly admit that womenmembers, especially wives, cannot keep secrets. Any pledge of secrecy administered to them is a melancholy farce. This is a fact — not a mere opinion. Almost every transaction of recent lodge meetings is known in Tuapeka, and women have been the " telltales," — I am, &c., Axotheb YoTma Wipe and Motheb.
