LAWRENCE WATER SUPPLY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — At the last election of town councillors, the candidates for office were not at all backward in making promises in the event of their being elected. Amongßt a legion of others, the much talked of water supply question stood conspicuous. Now, what practical steps have been taken in the. matter ? N one. I really think it ia too bad that we should go on from year to year paying £80 or £90 per annum in the shape of, interest for what even those who use it say is use less to them. If the Council doesuot intend taking any further steps in the matter of purification, why not charge those a 1 little who do use it. It is all very fine to say that the water is useless, then why x is there so much growling and grumbling if is it off for a day or two. I understand that the debentures for our present water supply fall due in about a couple of years ; now, how are. they to be paid — by another loan I suppose. If this is a sample of our town Council's reproductive works, why the less we have to do with them the better. If you can* •pare the space, I shall touch on one or two other matters next week.— l am, &0., - Skooks.
