CORRESPONDENCE. AGRICULTURAL LEASING AT BLUE SPUE;

. , f ... . ■ „.. s (To.tiuMtor.) Bra,—' Will: ydu allow me apace in your journal to' refer to the public meeting held at the Bbae Spur <> n *he * 15th . instant. The meeting consisted of about 11 twenty : «ix persons, out of whom nine held up their handsf or no-leasing of lands on goldfields commonage. Now, I would like to draw the attention of the Government aqd the public in general to the fact that all the objectors have got' Crown lands fencod in at the present to some considerable extent, and are thus defrauding the Crown ' of revenue from land which, if leased, would do away with their pettifogging objectors, and be a benefit to the Government, I wish tp draw the attention of Mr. War1 de.a Carew to .these geritlemeh. . who - J 'would Be great monopolisers if it were " • in' their power. Ido not wish to monopolise any Crown lands." The land 1 applied for was under the Agricultural Leasing- Regulations ; nor Lave I any desire to prevent the miners working -the ' land if it proved to be auriferous, or taking a race through it if required. In reference to " Non Libet's " statement that the land was applied for pre- ; viously before Mr. Warden Simpson, I give it my unqualified denial. I think I , am not mistaken in supposing that "Non Libet" has had considerable experience in inaking false assertions. I j 2 think Mr. Libet would find it more profitable work to return some of the land which has already disappeared from the Spur, .and" from which he has received some handsome dividends, rather than 'remove the land from Bellamy Run. Men like " Non Libet " are very dangerous, and require the strictest watching. — I am, &c, Thomas Hindes. [At Mr. Hinde's request we publish the above letter. -Ed. "T.T."
