DUNSTAN.

(From our own Correspondent.) Sporting has been the predominating feature of last week, and my present letter will give you a slight sketch^ of our amusements in the order in which they came off. The pigeon match heads the list, and as I believe some of those who were trying their hands here are to be at the provincial match at Tuapeka, it. may interest some. to know the scores. . On Thursday a match took place between R. Stewart, Esq., Hawksburn Station, and D, Stronach, Esq., of Ida Valley Station, for £10 a side, 15 birds each, which was won by Mr. Stronach, he killing 11 out of 13 ; his opponent, with 14 shots, killing 9. . The next wai a sweep of £5 between two sides of five ohosen by the former competitors, 6 birds each, , which was also won by Stronach's party. Their names and scores were as follows :—: — •

There was then a match between >Mx. 0. Turnbull and Mr. T. A. Praser, 5 birds eaclr: — ■ - — - - "- TumTrail'v Olill ' ! Fraser - 1001 A sweepstake pf £>i each ; between Messrs. Stewart, , Burke, C. Turnbull, and Fraser, 4 birds each, resulted in Stewart, Turnbull, and GTafesford tying with .3 birdß eaoh, and there being only two birdß left, it was ; not decided who was the winner. A little excitement was kept up by soufe- person backing the birds for small smris';~"but the poor birds fared the worst, for many who did not reckon in the score did. not- get far away, and the boys had some good fun catching them.' ». . I intended to -send you a full account of the races, the performance of the Cromwell Amateur Dramatic Company, and the sports on Saturday • But I left it too late, and was engaged elsewhere. The Cromwell Dramatic' Company, for the benefit of the Hospital, at the Town Hall in. the"* evening, astonished every one, and was a great success — the large room being quite full. A dance followed, which was kept up till a late hour. Some very good sports — running, leaping/ wheelbarrow imd sack racescame off on Saturday, affording good amusement to many.
