CORRESPONDENCE.
THE ISLAND BLOCK, (To the Editor.)
Sir, — I observe in your last issue a letter signed " Benger," in which I am declared to have made certain assertions at a public meeting at the Teviot. 1 desire to brand this statement as deliberately untrue — in short, as an utter and barefaced falsehood. I have in preparation and will shortly publish a pamphlet containing a full history of the Island Block
sale, when the public will have an opportunity of judging how unjust and uncalled for has been the abuse heaped upon the unfortunate head of yours truly, C. Nicholson. Ettrick, July 4. P.S. — In reply to "Benger's" challenge, 1 beg to request the publication of his name in next issue. [We are not at liberty to supply Mr. Nicholson with the name of the writer. Should Mr. Gillies require it for his information, wo are prepared to give ic. — Ed. '• T. T."]
