Young Abdallah is out of a thoroughbred mare, imported from Tasmania by Jihn -Weir, TSsq., of the We'stfern District, ■Victoria ; is 8 years old, and has, proved hjmself a sure foal-getter. He has left s^me of the most promising stock in the Rovince in the Clutha District. I Abdallah (bred by Mr. Batson in 1847) »as got by The Provost, out of Barbara ; Barbara was by Plenipotentiary, out of Saffi, who was got by a son of Dick Andrews (Dick Andrews was by Joe Andrews, a son of Eclipse.) The dam of Saffi was got by Totteridge (Totteridge was by Dungannon, a son of Eclipse), out of sister to Mariame, by Squirrel, out of Miss Meredith, by Cade (son of the Godolphin Arabian), out of the Little Hartley Mare. The Little Hartley Mare was by Barlot's Childers (own brother to Flying Childers), out of Large Hartley Mare, whose pedigree in three generations can be traced to a royal mare. Ihe Provost, the sire of Abdallah, was by The Saddler, out of Rebecca, by Lottery ; her dam by Cervantes, out of Antiteption ; mare of her dam by' Benninglrook (Benningbrook by King Fergus, a son Eclipse). Surprise, bred by John Hamilton, Esq., is T>y that well-known Clydesdale sire, Thane of Clyde, imported to Southland by Hugh M'Lean, Esq. Dam, bred by A. Clerke, Esq., Longford, Tasmania, and imported to this province by the Messrs. Clerke Bros, for breeding purooses on their farm. I Surprise is a dark dappled bay, stands 17 hands high, and is now rising six fears. He is a remarkably compact and powerful horse, with immense bone, fine flat leg, unequalled action, and docile temper. He has proved himself a sure ioal getter, and his stock are not surpassed by the progeny of any horse which has ever served in the Southland district, where he has travelled three years in succession. Surprise took second prize at two, three, and four years old at the Invercargill Annual Show, against all comers. A-Paddook, for the accommodation of mares coming from a distance, will be provided, at Moa Flat, free of charge, without responsibility. Greatest care taken. Clydesdale iWiWTft^ Entire IVANHOE TT7TLL Stand this Season at Moa Flat YY Station. Ivanhoe is nine years old, and was bred by the Duke of Hamilton. His sire Sir Walter Scott, gained the first prize at the Highland Agricultural Society Shew at Dumfries in 1860 ; the first prize in Glasgow in 1861 ; and at Battersea in 1862. His dam Maggy also gained the tirst prize as a 3-year old at the Highland Society Show ; the second prize among the best draught mares in 1862 ; and the first prize as a brood mare in 1863. Young Lawrence's sire, Young Champion, was by Champion. Dam, a purebred Clydesdale mare, imported from Tasmania, and sold for upwards v of 100 guineas. Terms, £3 ; Groom's Fee, ss.
