A. Lamer, charged upon information with destroying a door belonging to Aune Alexander, of Moa Flat, was fined £2 and costs. A further charge against the same defendant of assaulting Anne Alexander, was clearly proved. The Resident Magistrate remarked that ihe assault was of a most brutal character, but owing to the general good character of defendant, he would let him off this time with a fine of £5, with the option of a month's imprisna-nent in Clyde gaol.
