Wool.— By tlie arrival of the Suez mail, we are in receipt of our London advices, which say, under date of 19th April; — "Wool. — The second series of public sales of this year began on the 11th inst., with as full an advance of buyers as usual. At the opening sale there was a disposition shown by the buyers to keep prices below the previous February rates; but since then competition has been more brisk, and for mnst descriptions of wool prices are much the same as they were at the preceding sales, except perhaps greasy and faulty wools, and also clothing parcels, . which barely maintain their previous values. Beside the competition of thu home trade, tho French and American buyers are operatingtextensively, and we sec no reason to expect any fall in the vajue of wool for the remainder of the enrrent year. Tallow. — At the public, sales of to-day 2170 casks of Australian were put up, of which 1914 casks found buyers "Very fine mutton brought 42s to 43s 3 1 ; fair to good, 4 ls Gd to 42s 9cl ; and inferior to middling, 38a 6dto4ls. The lowest price wa3 very dull- coloured and watered. Betsf, fair to fine, brought 41s to 42s ; medium, 39s 9d to 40s 9d ; and some very inferior mixed, 3Gs. Preserved meats are low in price, owing to the large supply. Mutton, in 61b tins, is only worth 4|d per lb ; in 41b tins, 6d ; and in 21b tins, 7|d, less 2| per cent discount. The smaller sized tins command higher prices, being rather short in supply, and the buyers run more upon them. Hemp. — New Zealand hemp has been in demand, and the supply being limited, prices arc well maintained. Good medium is worth £3G, and common, £32. Bread--stuffs. — There is nothing new to say about Australian wheat. The sale has been slow for some time past, at from 01 s to 62s 9d per 496 lbs for good, and 62s to 63s for very choice parcels. The tone of the trade shows firmness, and an advance of Is to 2s seems probable."
Grain, — Wheat in fair demand, but we cannot report any alteration in values. Good samples command 5s 5s to 3d per bushel. Oats. — Neglected. Good bright milling parcels are worth 2s lOd to 2s 3 ld, feed, Is 8d to Is 9d per bushel. Barley. — Malting, wanted, and really good samples would bring from 5s 3d to 5s 4d per busheL Grass Seed. — Perennial rye-grass in demand. Good clean seed saleable at 5s to 5s 6d per bushel.
