PORT CHALMERS.
Thursday. The s.s. Albion sailed for the North at 5.45 last evening. The s.s. Maori, Captain Heart, sailed last nightjfor Lyttelton and intermediate ports. The s.s. Beautiful Star arrived this forenoon from Lyttelton via intermediate ports, and was placed alongside the ship Margaret Galbraith to tranship cargo. The barque Alma and the brig Star of the Mersey were to-day berthed alongside the hulks Cincinatti and California to discharge their cargoes of coals. The brigantine Emulous, from Melbourne, arrived last evening at the anchorage of the lower cross channel, and was sailing up to a discharging berth at 2 p.m. to-day The signal of a full rigged ship to the southward having been hoisted this morning, the steam tug Geelong proceeded outside the Heads to render the usual assistance. The name ef the ship had not been ascertained at the Port at 2 p.m. to-day.
Friday.
The s.s. Beautiful Star, for Lyttelton and intermediate ports, sailed last evening. The ship Margaret Galbraith. for London, completed her loading to-day, and being in fine trim, may be expected to make a good passage. Her passengers were conveyed on board by the Golden Age yesterday afternoon, but her departure is not expected to take place before Monday. The ship reported to the southward of the Heads yesterday was Messrs Patrick Henderson and Co.'s clipper ship Wild Deer, 1016 tons, commanded by Capfc. Whitson, with 32 passengers and a large general cargo from Glasgow. The following particulars of the voyage are extracted from the ship's logbook : — Left the Tail of the Bank on the Bth of February, and took her departure with a light aoutherly breeze from Tory Light on the 9th at 10 p.m. ; experienced light variable winds, moderate N.E. trades, and crossed the equator on the 9th of March. The S. E. trades, which were irregular, were got in 7 deg. S., and lost in 21 deg. S. ; after which light favorable winds were met with, and the meridian of the Cape of Good Hope was passed on the 9th of April. The easting was run down between the parallels of 47 and 48 deg. S., and moderate westerly winds were met with. r l he Snares were sighted on the 7th at 6 a.m., and Otago Heads were made on the Bth at 5 a.m., and at 2 p.m., when about eighteen miles from the Heads, the steam tug Geelong came alongside and towed the ship to the outer anchorage at 6 p.m. , where the ship remained for the night, and was this morning towed to a convenient discharging berth. This fine ship has come into port in fine order, having been newly coppered and received a thorough overhaul and refit whilst at Glasgow. The passengers, who were conveyed to Dunedin by steamer at noon to-day, presented to Captain Whitson and officers a testimonial of their esteem prior to their leaving the ship. The p s Wallace arrived last evening from Oamara, with passengers and cargo.
Monday.
The ship Margaret Galbraith, with pas* engers and a full cargo for London, was
towed to sea this morning by thep.s. Get* long. The s.s. Storm Bird left the Bluff on Saturday afternoon, called at Molyneux, and left there on Sunday afternoon. Light head winds during the passage.

Per Omeo, from Melbourne : — Mrs Walker, Messrs Mackay, Janverin, Almon, Liggins, and 15 in the steerage. Prom Bluff— Mr and Mrs Blacklock and four children, Messrs Hislop, Coyle, Brunton, Austin, and eight in the steerage. Fourteen for Northern ports.
