TUAPEKA MOUTH RACES.
These paces took place on Thursday and Friday last. The attendance at the course, which js situated in the vicinity of the township, was pretty fair, fchep/s bejng about 200 present. \ There was a gpqd number pf local and other horses entered, arid two pheasant day's sport were enjoyed. Mr. Taylor and Mr. Dawson had each a refreshment booth on the ground. Mr. Jeffery had a -stall provided jyith fancy g.Qpds, and Mrs, Tyler a tea and coffee stan. d.

ftix horses were entered aud started fop this race. The* first heat, won by Dawson's Dick Dutton, was the bpst race of the day — Mailler's Maori came in second, and Johnson's Pickwick third. The six horses started for the Becond beat, Pickwick coming in first, Djck Dutton second, and Beckett's Fiddler third. The third heat was between the two winning horses, Pickwick and Dick Dutton, and was won by Pickwick.

The attendance of spectators on the second day was about the same as on the first, and the racing was much superior, and gave much more general satisfaction. MINEKS' PUKSE, Of 10 SOYS. Kelly's Nelly Bliglj - - 1 Johnson's Pickwick - - 2 There were five entries for this race, and the running was very good. Towtf Plate, of 25 soys. Distance, 3 miles. Dwyer's Wild Harry - - 1 Langly's Sir Charles - - 2 Johnson's Pickwick - - 3 This was the event of the day. Four horses were entered. Wild Harry had the race to himself. Handicap Trotting Race, of 10 soys. Cow's King (120 yds.) - 1 Poilopk's Struggler(at scratch) 2 O^rjaw's Joe Cope do. 3 For this race four started. King kept his distance at the winning post. Consolation Handicap, of 8 soys. Pine's Chance - - - 1 Pine's GutZ'Who-gero - - 2 Cumming's Madge - r 3 This race was well contested throughout; This brought to a close the Tuapeka Mouth racing, which, upon the whole, was satisfactory.
