THE MOUNT WHARF.

According to a statement made by Mr Colin McNaughton at the meeting.of the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night nothing has yet been' done in the direction of carrying out the promised improvements at the Mount wharf. Possibly.there are difficulties in connection therewith of which the ordinary layman is ignorant. The strike, for instance, may be in part responsible for the delay, or the totara piles, which have to be of exceptional length, may be unobtainable. The fact remains, however, that there is a state of glorious inactivity reigning as regards the promised alterations. It is up to the farmers, therefore, who are most directly interested, to enquire as to the reason for this protracted delay. There may be circumstances that warrant it, or there may not.
