Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited are in receipt of the following cable from their head office under date 30th May, 1913.
Butter:' Market'steady for finest quality, but dull for inferior and secondary qualities. 7,700cwt. was the total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ending Saturday, as compared with 6700 cwts. for corresponding period of last year. We'quote: N.Z. butter, salted 114s, Danish 114s, Finest Australian, salted 108s, unsalted 110sCheese: The market is firmer, and tending upwards, owing to delay in Tainui shipment, White 60s, colored 575. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held the usual weekly fat stock sale at Westfield on Wednesday, May 28th, as under :~ Beef-A moderate yarding. Prices were higher than last week, especially for best quality ox. Choice pens of prime ox sold at equal to 28s to 30s per 1001b. Ordinary quality 26s to 275, cow and heifer beef from 22s to 265, according to quality. Veal—A small yarding which sold at late rates. Heavy runners made up to £1 18s, choice suckers 35s to £2 10s, others 3s to 255. Mutton-A moderate yarding. Prices were Is 6d to 2s higher than last week. Choice heavy wethers made 22s to 25s 6d. medium weights 18a 6d to. 21s, inferior 14s to 17s, extra heavy ewes 18s to 23s 3d, good 15s 6d to 17s, inferior quality 83 to 12s. L-imb-A small yarding. Best woolly made to 15s 6d, best shorn to 16s, others 10s to 14s. Pork —An average yarding. Prices were on a par with late >ates. Choppers made £3 7s to £3 18s, heavy porker 3 38s to 495, light 16s to 345.
