AUCKLAND.
Last night.
A body has been found in the Waikato Hirer of a person unknown, bearing marks of violence, giving rise to suspicions of foul play. The body had only got a shirt on, and there is a wound like a tomahawk cut on the forehead, and the first joint of ona of the fingers of the left hand is missing. His age appeared to be between 40 and 50. Deceased had a red goaty beard. Dr Dalziel makes a post mortem.
A fire occurred at the Onehunga ironworks, the flames from tbe oxydiser spreading to tbe woodwork of the roof. Damage £100.
Constable Graham, of Newmarket, was thrown from his horse and his ukull fractured. There is little hope of his recovery.
