V.R.C. Autumn Meeting.

Melbourne, Saturday. The first day's races rof the Victoria Racing Club's Autumn Meeting came off this afternoon at Flemington. There was a large attendance, amongst those present being the Governor and suite. The weather was fine, but the coarse heavy, owing to recent rains. The principal eveuts resulted as follows :—
Essendon Stakes, 1|- miles—Com* motion, 1; Malua, 2 ; Reginald, 3. Won easily, Time, 2mins 47£secs.
St: Leges Stakes—Silver King, 1; David, 2; Mozart, 3. There were only four starters. Silver King won by a length and a-half. * Time, 3mins 32Jsecs.
Newmabket Handicap, f mileCoronet,l; Middlemarch, 2; sheet Anchor, 3. Thirty-horses started, and it was a splendid raes, the finish beine; very close. Time, Imin 19}secs; The betting at the post was 5 to 1 against Coronet, 6 to 1 against Prometheus, ami 7 to 1 against Bohemian. „ .-' ■ -
