Mining Company Meeting.
DEEP LEVEL GROSS
. The annual meeting of shareholders was held in Auckland at noon on Saturday, there being a good attendance. The reports were adopted, Messrs Buddie and Alexander were re-elected directors, and Mr J.Waymouth dppdinted auditor. The mine manager's report detailed the operations of the year-y stating that 372 loads of quartz had been- crushed for 353pzs '-3.dw.fsr gold. The report concluded—'-"j he prospects of your mine look more encouraging now than they have done for some considerable time back, and Iv have no doubt but gold will bo f>ot in payable quantities in the reefs that are now being opened up. The trib.ute.rs that have been working the surface portion of what, is known as the Tookey mine, have met with a fair amount of success, having crushed 46| tons of quartz for the return of 106ozs Bdwts melted go!d."
The engineer's report stated, inter alia, that the pumps were working smoothly, and keeping the water down with 3| strokes per minute ; several stoppages had occurred during the year through breakages, &c. ; the boilers were all-in- good condition ; the hot damp air in the shaft was very deleterious to 'the winding ropes, and a new one had to be purchased at a cost of £183 15s 9d; new poppet legs had been erected at a cost of £160; and the old 12-inch cylinder win iing engine had been sold to .the Auckland Freezing Company for- £57.
The balance sheet showed:—Receipts; Gold, £958 Is 6d, tribute £39 Is 4d— '£997 2s 10d; drainage contributions, £3555 14* 8d ; calls, £5245 16s 9d ; Cambria dividend (2032 shares), £101 12s; Bank of New Zealand, 31st January, 1885; £1482 8s 7d ; sale of engine, £57 ; hauling and supplying slecm, £361145. Total, £11,801 8 v 103.— Expenditure : Mine account, £3570 Ss; pump account —engineer's salary,.£2so; wages, £1541 5s lid ; fuel, cartage aud wharfage, £4246 7s 5d ; water, £127 4s; ironmongery, repairs, &c, £391 Is 2d - £6555 *18s 6d ; Bank of New Zealand, on 31st January, 1884, £1252 8s 7d; payment of calls on Saxon G.M. Co., £250; ditto on 2505 Cambria shares at 9d, £82 13s 9d ; Alburnia battery balacce, £90. Total £11,801 8s lOd.—Liabilities.: Mitie creditors, as per list, £1.055 13s 6J; pump creditors, .as per list, £2.672 19s lid; Bank of New Zealand,' £1^432 8s 7d;. balance, £16,914 19s 6a. Total, i £22,126 Is 6d.~Assets: Purchase of pump, £2000; pump property, £17,042 Is 9d ; debtors to pumpingg, £1,180 ; 2,0^2 Cambria shares at cost price, £76 4a; 10,000 Saxon ehareV at 6d per share called up, £250; unpaid calls, £1,877 15a 9d. Toial, £22,126 Is 2d.
