Thames Harbor Board.
haebobmastee's beport. The following report was presented by Mr Sehofield, Aoting Harbormaster, at the usual monthly meeting of the Harbor Board at 4 o'clock this afternoon ;— " The work done in the past month has been principally confined to keeping Goods S Wharf in repair. The piles and braces are in a very shaky condition from the effects of being worm eaten. I would call your immediate attention to them. I would respectfully request that the fillingin be carried on a little at a time as far as funds will allow, as I believe it would be far the cheapest in the end. The silt works
tramway wascarriedaway by the southerly gale at ihe beginning of last month for a length of about 50 feet; the iron rails have been recovered. Shortland creek is silting up fast, and to such an extent that two vessels (Violet and Zillah) were detained five days near the lamp post; neither vessel had a full cargo. To meet the present difficulty, I would suggest that tenders be called for cleaning out channel, the contractor being allowed use of harbor plant. I have no doubt but what it would be done much cheaper than by day labor. The red buoy which was carried away has been recovered, bat I have not yet placed it in position, as the moorings are lost, and new ones will have to be provided. I will attend to this as soon as possible."
