The Rangers' Trip to Wairoa.
OUR MEN PROVE VICTOES.
The team of Rifle Rangers which left here on Saturday to fire a friendly match with the Wairoa Rifles, returned at 1 o'clock to-day, all having enjoyed their outing. The party, which was under the command of Capt. Douglas, and numbered sixteen in all, landed at Wairoa at 8 o'clock on Saturday evening, and were distributed for the night, some being put up by the settlers, and otbers boarding at the hotel. The match was fired yesterday, rain falling all the time, and resulted in a win for our team by 34 points, the respective totals being—Thames, 864 ; Wairoa, 830. The ranges were 200, 4CO, and 500 yards, 7 shots at each. The return voyage was commenced at 7 o'clock this morning, and the Result (which was piloted by W. Scurrah) auchored off Grahamstown Wharf at 1 p.m.
