Waiorongomai Mining.

■* Phcenix — The crushing of 10 trucks from this claim ga*e 17ozs retorted and as another 3OZ? are expectnd from tailings not yet ground, the return is an excellent one.

M'oa:—,4 crushing from this claim has been put through. We are not in possession of the exact yield, but understand that it was not considered satisfactory. Welcome.—-The workiug of this mine has ben let oa tribute to Mr JJ. Burke, an old and experienced miner. In his hands it will receive a thorough trial, and is likely soon to be heard of again as a gold producer. Waiorongomai.—The reef has been cut in the low level and followed for^ a few feet, but it is at prr ;ent eomowhat broken. Much of the quartz is of a very promising character, but so far no gold has been seen in it.

Colonist. —The low level i 3 again bsing pushed on. Work was resumed with three shifts some days ago, and it is expected that the reef will be reached in about a fortnight. There has recently been a slight change for the better in the country. Stoping operations are being vigorously carried on in the upper, workings, whicii are yielding a steady supply of stuff for the 10 head of stampers now kept going at the battery. Canadian.—The winze is" down 20 feet, and the reef continues to show gold in paying quantity. Operations are at present limited to sinking until the erection of the hopper; there being no means of storing the quartz without incurring unnecessary labour and expense. . Diamond Gully.—Sinking is still going on in.the winze, and the show of gold continues satisfactory^ The recent excellent yield -ives proof of the payable nature of the reef, and with such encouraging pros» pects it may be expected the working of the claim will now be energetically carried on. Inverness. —Since the connecting of the winze and rise last week the ground has been properly timbered and secured, and a commencement made to open out on the reef, from which some very fair stone has already been obtained. —News.
