HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

After the delivery of the Governor's opeech, petitions were presented by Messrs Barron, Steward, George, Connolly, M. W. Green, Bracken, and Hutchison, on various subjects. Ministers gave notice of the appointment of the Library and House Com - mittees; Mr Barron, of the Caversham Drainage Bill; Mr Whitaker. of the Town Districts Amendment Bill; Mr Barron, of a bill to abolish plural voting ; Mr Hamlin, of the Manukau Harbour Bill; Mr Bracken, of the Seamen's Franchise Bill; and Mr Shaw, of a bill to alter the duration of Parliament.

Motions for a number of returns were given notice of, including one by Mr Montgomery for a return of the loan expended in the several districts of the colony.

A large number of papers were presented by Ministers, and the House rose. '
