OUR MINES.

DEEP LEVEL CROSS.

Betorting for the month took place at the Herald battery for the good return of '627pzs retorted gold which was reduced on melting to 5190zs lOdwts. For this return 316 loads of general dirt and 2501bs specimens were crushed, the whole being obtained from the workings on No. 2 reef and the crosslode at and above No. 5 level. The general dirt shaped for an average yield of an ounce per load, and the specimens also gave a good return. - DAET.

Another breaking took place last night in the western drire at_Ko._3 lerel; tfe© —xeef-iH~Two feet~wiffe, aDd showed gold freely. The leading stope over this drive is also looking well, and a few pieces of picked stone came to hand from here last night. The monthly return will be to hand to-morrow morning ; it is ex* pected to be about 4OOOZS.

EOCKY POINT. The contractors for extending the General Chute level have just completed their 200 ft, making the total distance driven since the shareholders commenced operations 750 ft. The country has been hard for more than 100 ft, but the estimated distance to drive to cut the reef being only 90ft, it is expected that a change of ground will be met with before long. Tbe reef should therefore be to hand in five or six weeks, and the shareholders deserve to get'something good as a reward for perseveringly pushing on work.
