Ohinemuri Goldfield.

At the usual quarterly meeting of the Ohinemuri Licensing Beuoh of Commissioners, Mr Alfred Shepherd's application for a transfer of his license from the Tram* way Hotel, Waitekauri, to the Karangahake Hotel, Karangahake, was granted. This hotel, which will be opened in about a fortnight's time, will be fitted with every convenience for . the accommodation of visitors, and will therefor© supply a want long felt in the district. ■
A meeting of those interested in the formation of a local Volunteer corps was held in the; Paeroa Public Hall on SaturI d&y evening last. There was a numerous attendance, and the Chair was occupied by Mr F. Lipsey, who explained the object for which the meeting had been convened. Several resolutions were passed, and a memorial to the officer commanding the district, praying that the services of the proposed new corps be accepted, was signed by about forty persons who are desirous of becoming members. :
