Thames Harbor Board.

The usual meeting was held yesterday afternoon. Present—Messrs Osborne'{in the chair), Bagnall, Bull, Carpenter, McGowan, Bead, Price, and Wilson. The Bank of New South Wales acknowledged the receiptoorf r £2000 worth of debentures as security for the Board's overdraft of £1200.—The Government offered Bites in exchange for those held by Messrs Onjon and Gillespie at Shortland. The Board agreed to accept them provided the Government arranged with lessees.— Messrs Carpenter, Bull, and Osborne were appointed to represent the Board at the conference of local bodies to be held anent amalgamation. The Harbor-master reported, amongst other matters of no great importauce, that a capstan should be obtained for the dredge, that it should commence work at the Goods Wharf, and the work at Shorfcland should he deferred until the Government let the contract for extension of the wharf there. T at he had revised the tariff, and expected the result would increase the revenue by £50 per month if wharfage were charged on outward goods. Work at Shortland goods shed was progressing. A carline should be laid down at the wharf there, and a leading light should be placed on the end of the shed —It was decided to call for tenders (or spreading ICD loads of shingle on the Goods Wharf approach.—The Secretary ' stated tlfat there -.were £200 in hand .for working the dredge.— Outstanding accounts amounted.to £519 and £310 were due on various accounts out of the advance made by the Bank.— The cost of workijig the Auckland dredge was£47 per month It was decided to work the dredge for a week at the Good* wharf so that the Board could judge its capability and so decide oj> further action. Messrs Osborne, McGkiwan. Cirponter, and Price were appointed to confer with the Harbor-Maßt.ur as to future workings, Tenders for ibe supply of 209 loads of mullock for Shortland wharf were as follow : Casoy (accepted), Is 6"d per yard ; Rickit, Is 9d; Maxwell, Is' 7d.— Accounts to the amount of £L7O were passed for payment. —Mr Osborne moved that the Chairman take steps to increase the jurisdiction of the Board fromiive miles from Opani Point to ten miles from it..'-; After some discussion the matter was allowed to stand over until next meeting.—This concluded the meeting. f
