His Excellency the Governor left for Auckland by the Hineraoa at 10 o'clock this morning.

The Supreme Court criminal session opened this morning. Judge Richmond in charging the Grand Jury had again to congratulate them on the calendar, although there was the average number of cases, but all of them of a light character, He then referred to a reform in the procedure of criminal and civil law; with regard to latter, some action had been taken, but criminal law had been untouched; they were no doubt waiting the result of impending changes of criminal law in England. He hoped that something would be done in the matter before long. The Grand Jury found a true bill against William Harris for felony.
