Mr Edward Shaw,«=»of the firm of Messrs Brandon, Shaw, and Brandon, solicitors, formerly Warden at Reefton, and afterwards District Judge here, has accepted a requisition from Inangahua to contest that seat in the House. Mr Richard Reeves has retired in his favor. Yesterday. A heavy southerly buster set in again last night. Very heavy rain poured in continuous torrents until this morning and the tides were unusually high. A man named Robert Bolt attempted suicide at Wai»nui^omata, yesterday, by cutting bis throat; he was found hidden away with his throat terribly hacked. Bolt was committed to the Asylum.
