Yesterday.
Mr H. S. Fish, M.H.R., was elected Chairman of the Harbor Board to-dry. In his speech on assuming the chair he said a day or two ago tome members of the Board waiied on the Premier, who had informed the deputation that it was intended to change the constitution of the Board. This step would be in the direction of doing away with nominee members. Then it was also intend; d to place all the harbor works, including the dock, under one management, which was a step in the right direction;
The licensing election to.day resulted in a victory for the publicans in e-ch of the three wards in which contests took place. In Dunedin Central only Mr B. Stout, of the Templars' candidate^ was elected. In Dunedin. South, none of the Templar candidates; and in Duaedin Eelt two, including Mr Stout. :■ This day.
