Arrived: The steamship Europa, from Melbourne, December 16. Her cargo of frozen meet; consisting of 7700 carcasses of mutton is in good condition. February 18. Bombay, February 19, "Major' 1 Tucker and eighteen of the Salvation Armys who were parading the streets, have been arrested here. Paeis, February 19. M. Jules Ferry has been siimmoned by M. Grevy, and requested to undertake the formation of a Cabinet. M. Ferry has accepted the charge^and is now engaged in forming a Ministry. Five Bedouins have been found guilty of the murder of Professor Palmer and Messrs Gill and Charring Son in October last end sentenced to death. The Government Bill providing for affirmation in' lieu of an oath at the option of members, upon taking their seats in the House, was introduced in the House of Commons yesterday. . London, February 18. A special to the Press Association received says :—The informer Carey has explained that Brady was stabbing Mr Burke when Lord Frederick Cave-dish I
interfered, and Brady then turned to him and hacked him to death, afterwards turning round and finishing Mr Burke, when he then wiped the knife in the grass. The other assassins were armed .with revolvers. Cards were sent to three Dublin papers stating that iv the assassination they had executed the direct;on of the " Just and invincible." Carey has im plicated his own brother in tbe crime. The Land League is supplying prison money for the benefit of the prisoners io February 19. At the Dublin Police Court today the prisoners who were under arrest oa charges of assassinating I \>rd Frederick Oavendish and Mr Burke, in Phoenix Pavk, have been committed for trial. Sheridan, who is stated to have negotiated |tiated the alleged Kilmainham treaty be tween Mr Glad>toue and Mr Parnell, by which the imprisoned Irish members got their liberty, has been implicated in the operations of the assassins, and committed on the evidence given by informers in the trial of the Phoenix Park murder case.
