The seam struck in puUicg ia the crossdrive in the Picton coal mine to strike the main seam at a depth of 85 feet was quite, unexpected, and is iound fo be five feet six inches wide, of splendid dry coal, of even strata. The' mauager expects to cut the seam io five or six days. Considerable excitement exists here md residents holding promoters' shares have refused to sell their original £30 shares at £80.
