The cricket match bel ween the Australians and English Eleven commenced here to«day. The weather has been fine, and the attendance of spectators was large, great interest being taken in the contest The Englishmen went in first, and at the adjournment for luncheon had lost 2 wickets for 63 runs. The following are the scores:—Barlow, b, 14; C.|T. Studd, b, 14 ; Steel, not out, 4; Leslie, not out, 31. At the close of the day's play the score of the Englishmen stood at 248 with 7 wickets down. The following are the additional scores:— Leslie, run out, 54; wteele, c, 39 ; W. J. Eead, not out, 52 ; Barnes, b, 32 ; Tylecote, b, 0 ; Bligh, b 0 ; Bates, nofc out, 34; extras, 9 ; total for 7 wickets, 248. Sydney, Yesterday. New Zealand wheat, per bushel, 4s; New Zealand oats, 3s 3d ; maize, 4s 9d. Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces, per ton, £35. The Commercial Bank of Sydney has declared a dividend for the past half-year at the rate of 25 perjcent. per annum. Mr J. 0. Redmond, M.P. for New Ross, whose approaching visit to the Australias is understood to be in connection with the Irish National League, is expected. toarrive here in March. Aibany, Yesterday. The P. and O. steamship Indus, with inward mails via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, December 15, arrived at Sing George's Sound this afternoon.
