Information has been received here from Collingwbod that the Golden Ridge Co. had cleaned up one hundred and sixty-two ounces of retorted gold, from seventy tons of quartz. A dividend of sixpence per share has been declared. The mine is reported to be looking well.
Messrs Gamble and Ormshead, representatives of the Pacific Mail Company,' had an interview with, the Premier this morning regarding the renewal of the San Francisco' mail service. Nothing, however, can be done until the New South Wales Government are willing to commence, negotiations. A cable has been sent to the latter, asking what they intend to do in the matter.
At the Supreme Court to-day Sarah Parnell was sentenced to two months' imprisonment on a charge of wounding. The sittings adjourned till Tuesday, when a charge of horse-stealing, preferred against a man named Morrison, will be dealt with.
The ship Paerora, from London, Capt. Power, 91 days out, arrived, this morning.
