AUCKLAND.
This day. The barque A. T. Stallknecht, which left Auckland for Russell, en route for America, on June 12, put back into harbor at 2 o'clock this morning. She encountered rough weather, and was much strained and leaky. She will be repaired before proceeding on her voyage. A young man named Hugh Clark was arrested on a charge of having stolen jewellery to the value of £16, from the house he was lodging in. At Palmerston North the temporary bridge over the Raagitikei river was washed away last night. The through traffic was to have been resumed on Monday. Heavy rains have been falling for two or three days, but the weather is clearing up now. A telegram from New Plymouth states the Australind is a total wreck. She has not broken up, and everything aloft is standing. Yesterday she drove farther ashore, and carried away the end of the harbor works jetty. Her cable and anchors have gone. There are seven feet of water in the hold, and the 500 casks of cement are damaged. The Press Association is requested by by the National Bank of New Zealand Limited to state that the dividend just declared in London is 4 per cent for the past half year, making a total, adding the 3 per cent, interim dividend, of 7 per cent, for the year.
