WELLINGTON.

Yesterday. The heaviest downpour of rain experienced for some time commenced i yesterday afternoon and continued until 6 o'clock this morning, when it slightly moderated. Light rain is however falling. At the Te Aro end of the city and at Newton, floods occurred and houses were flooded to a depth of about three feet. In one instance a slip carried away the foundation of a house, and it now lies at an angle. At Thornton the low-lying parts were flooded. No serious damage is yet reported. Boisterous weather has delayed the arrival of trains.
