WELLINGTON.
This day.
A cottage at Kilbemie, occupied by a man named Norling, was burned down during the night. It appears a fire was discovered in the house during the afternoon, a spark or something having burned a hole through the carpet. It was promptly put out to all appearance, and the place deluged with water. When the inmates retired to rest all appeared safe, but at 1 a.m. they were awakened by the place being in flames, and they had barely time to escape with their lives. Norling's beard was actually burned off before he got out. The cottage was insured in the South British for £100, and the furniture for £25.
