TE AROHA.

A better feeling seems to have taken place here. There are few idle men in the district, owing to the demand by drainage and fencing operations. Several of the new settlers have arrived, and are pleased with the look of the country. Capt. Steele is here for the purpose of giving all necessary information to intend* ing settlers.

In the Morning Star some good stone is coming out. "The'reef is two feet, and is in a good driving country. The only other claim at work at'present is the Napier, although several parties are out prospecting. Hone and the other natives are still out prospecting on the buck reef. With fine weather I think better times will come to this district. The roads all through the district arc not so good as I have seen them, and in places would hardly carry the weight of either the Chairman of the Piako or the Thames County Councils. ;
