"l " '"""'' It is believed by the Opposition that the, debate on the third,-reading, of, the Representation Bill will not be concluded before tomorrow, as there are over thirty members pledged to talk against it; ' : Should circumstancea permit, !Murray will this .session, move: ;the following: notice of motion :~" That the Tea'djust* 1' ment of the Bill should provide—(l) That there? should Ibe. no increase in the nutnber of members of the House of Representatives ; (2) that a quota of the population for-country electorates should be determined after each; decimal census before;adjustment of representation;' (3) tliat the quota of population for [electorates of'Borbu^h^(not being within five miles of other Boroughs) should: be;:oneVfi'ftli<ino're than that required for country ..electorates; (4) that cities, with ..their adjacent boroughs and suburbs, having an aggregate population equal to thrice that required for quota ofcountry electorates, should be entitled to a second member, and therefore the quota additional which should entitle them to increased representation should for! ? eaich, member Jbe twice the required quota of "country electorates : (5) that cities, With! their suburbs aud adjacent boroughs, entitled to elect> two or more representatives, should hare the right by plebiscite of adult population (or electors), or to determine whether they will elect their representation by single constituencies or as, a united electorate, each elector having one vote only; or they may adopt the mode of election known as.the Hare system, qc a suitable rabdifi-; cation thereof; (6) a readjustment of representation should! be made after each decennial- census-tin* conformity with; the iabove propositions, and; so far as consistent therewith, the electoral /divisions should be so arranged as to secure a community of interests and the, convenience of the people, and with.well* defined boundaries.
