Wellington, This day. i "In the House to-day, Gibbs gave notice to move that the Chairman,of,Gommittee/8i conduct in refusing to accept i^isjborne's; motion to report progress was contrary,.tq,' fParliamentarjf k practice: and tbe Standing; Orders, and tending to the curtailment of the privileges of Parliament, and aiming a blow at the liberties'of the people^ ;Sheehau,'as'a matters6f privilege, drew attention to a series of Parliamentary sketches in the supplimmt of the Otago Daily Times of September which contained as many libels as could possibly be got into the space. He moved formally that Charles Frazer. the, printer, and H. IST. Adams, the publisher of the paper, be summoned to appear at the bar of. tho House. At the same time he had no wish to press the motion, as, he feared the real culprits could not be got at. Having put himself iv order therefore by moving in the matter, he concluded with a motion, asking leave to withdraw the same.— Leave granted.
