By a boat accident in Akaroa Harbour on Friday last two Maories lost their lives.
Johnny Hydes writes to the Times this morning that Hooper, the actor, who committed suicide at Dunedin, was not in destitute circumstances, as Mrs Hooper left money with him when she left for Christchurch last week. Hooper had been offered employment but had refused two offers.
