The Parihaka Meeting.

Pukgae^hu, Monday. The Parihaka meeting is very largely attended, but the weather interferes with

the proceedings. The meeting square was not occupied until late yesterday, and the speeches ot Te WMti and Tofau were short. The contention is to be carried ou with the Government by the boys who are living near the fence at Parapara, who were arrested and liberated last year on account of their youth, and who have lately been fencing a cultivation to seaward of the road. Toliu says that they will contend for seren months when all will be settled. The natives have fourteen thousand pigeons kahas, and tins which are to be dislributed when the weather is sufficiently fine. There is no sign of submission, but the released prisoners and those who were not arrested are to take a rest, while the party of boys are to carry on the agitation, which will probably be confined to the vicinity of Pariliaka. A mounted patrol is maintained between Pungarehu and the fence. At the meeting Honi Pikama's wife, on entering the village, held up on a supplejack £200 as a present for Te Whiti. The Prophet, in addressing the people, enjoined them not to iuterfere with the Constabulary pulling down the fence, as hostilities had passed.
