Local Board of Health.
A meeting of the members of the Board was held this morning. Present—*, Crs Marshall, Mennie, Veale, Osborne,} and McGowan.
The report of Dr Payne re the matter;, of holding a matinee at the theatre was read, the doctor giving it as his opinion that the congregation of children might lead to a spread of scarlet fever.
It was resolved to notify the managers of the Pinafore Company that it was not advisable that the matinee should be held.
Mr McGowan moved and Mr Veale seconded that the secretary send an intimation to the Governors of the High School to the same effect as that given the Government schools.
Letters were also ordered to be sent to the Roman Catholic and all other public schools.
Mr Mennie moved that notice be given to close all Sunday Schools for one month, seconded by Mr Veale and carried.
It was resolved that all the medical men on the field be requested to com« municate to the officer of the Board the names of all patients suffering from scarlet fever.
