The New Zealand Medical Association Act was introduced in the council by Dr Grace It provides that in any provincial district not fewer than tea duly qualified practitioners may form themselves into' a provincial association, elect officers, etc., and as. soon as two or more associations have been formed, they shall elect a proportion of one in ten of their number to form a General Council of the New Zealand Medical Association, to meet annually in rotation at Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington, Nelson and Auckland. The objects of the association are set forth in clause 8. ■" The General Council shall be recognised as a final court of appeal in all matters relating to the internal Government of the various district associations in all questions of medical ethics, and in all matters of public importance requiring professional consideration." The Bill originated amongst the Otago practitioners.
It is expected the House will adjourn from Friday to Thursday to allow members to visit the Duuidin Exhibition. About, forty are going in the Hinemoa. A butcher named Hendel met with a serious accident this morning. He was driving round a corner when a sudden jerk threw him off his seat, and the wheel passed over his head, bruising a portion of the skull. He is in a critical condition.
