London, June 13. A daring attempt has been made to rescue the prisoners McGrath and Kevett, the prisoners who are coufined in Liverpool Gaol, on the charge of attempting to blow up Liverpool Town Hall with dynamite. The warders had previously received alarm, and when the- mob assembled in front of the prison they made their appearance armed. The would be rescuers, numoering about 400, finding preparations had been made to resist an attack, retreated. The military have been called upon to guard the prison. LoKDON, June 18. The Sight Rev. Edward McCabe, Roman CUtholie Archbishop of Dublin has issuea a pastoral letter to the bishops and clergy of his diocese, urging the adoption of a moderate policy by the peoule, and impressing upon them the necessity of abstaining from acts of violence. ' A.large portion of the wool to arrive per ship Wigtonshire, which left Lyttieton on March IS, has been purchased for exportation. Paui9, June 18. Telegrams are to hand from Marseilles reporting that,, further disturbances between the citizens and Italian residents have taken place there. A serious riot occurred there to-day. At the landing of another detachment of troops from the Tunisian territory, in their march through the town, were insulted and maltreated by Italian towns-people, retaliated, and arms were freely used, aud many persons were killed and wounded before order was restored. St. Peteksbubgh, June 18. A mine was discovered by the police to day. Investigations are now being made to discover the per* ns concerned in it, but up to the. present time no definite information has transpired.
