WELLINGTON
This day. The Presbyterian Assembly met again yesterday. The first business was the consideration of the Church Agency report, but it was adjourned until to-day. The report of the Sabbath School Committee was given in, and shows considerable progress in this sphere of service, there being 83 schools, 722 teachers, and 6991 scholars. After some discussion, in which several spoke strongly on the subject of the Bible being introduced into day schools, the report was adopted. The Treasurer received a vote of thanks for the paper which be read on Materialism. The remainder of the evening was occupied in discussing a motion to rescind the Student Evangelistic Ordination Act, which eventually was carried. Friday. The amount of Property Tax paid throughout the colony up to last night was £76,498. '
The Asylum inquiry was continued today, when furlher evidence in defence of the arrangements was taken.
