CHEISTCHUECH
Yesterday. The Government steamer Hinemoa arrived at Lyttelton shortly before 10 o'clock this morning. His Worship the Mayor and members of the Borough Council and the leading citizens of Lyttelton and Christchurch went on board, and were introduced to the Governor by the Hon. the Premier. On the Governor landing, a detachment of the Naval Brigade formed a guard of honor and the Artillery firt-d a salute. The party then proceeded to the Colonists' Hall, and on arrival addresses from the Borough . Council
and Friendly Societies were presented. The Governor subsequently visited the docks, and expressed his surprise at their size, and said he hoped they would be largely used by H.M. Navy. The party came on to Christchurch by special traiD, and a large crowd assembled at the station, including the Mayor and members of tho City Council, the representatives of several public societies, Justice Johnston, and the leading citizens. The City Guards formed a guard of honor, and addresses were read from the City Council, the Selywn County Council, and the Sunday School Union. The vice-regal party were afterwards conveyed in a drag through the city.
