Board of Governors.

A meeting took place at the Thames High School this afternoon for thfe purpose of presenting the prizes given by Sir Julius Vogel to the Governors for the best essay on " The Vegetable Produce of New Zealand.

His Worship the Mayor, in making the presentation, gave a short history of Sir Julius Vogel's career while in New Zealand. He said Sir Julius Vogel gave one of the prizes (Beeton's Dictionary of Universal Information), and the Governors the other.

Both the essays of Miss Watkin and Master Burns were so remarkably good that the Governors did not make any distinction.

His Worship then presented the prizes
