Serious Accident.
A serious accident occurred on the Tapu road last evening. Mr John Brown, of Waiomo. together with his wife and daughter, had been spending the day at Tararu, and towards evening started off for home in their trap. Everything went well until Whakatete was reached, when the horse swerved, and in so doing capsized the trap. Mr Brown was picked up insensible, having sustained a severe gash on the forehead, and injuries to the spine, caused by the horse falling on him. Mrs Brown was severely shaken and it is feared she was injured internally. Mrs Howe (their daughter) luckily escaped, but her children sustained injuries from which concussion of the brain resulted, and we are sorry to say but slight hopes are entertained for their recovery. Di\ Payne was quickly on the spot, and the injured persons, were conveyed to the Hospital, where their injuries were promptly attended to.
