Thames High School.

A special meeting of the Board of Governors of the Thames High School was held at the- Borough Chambers this afternoon at which .Dr Kilgour ■•* and Messrs Wilkinson, Erodie, Eagnall, Speight and Marshall were present. His Worship the Mayor(W Wilkinson.Esq.), was, on the motion of Mr Brodie seconded by Dr Kiigour, elected Chairman of the Board for the ensuing year. The correspondence received since last meeting was read and disposed of.

The following statement of the receipts and expenditure of the past year, certified to by Mr Durrieu, the Auditor, was read, and, after being signed by the Chairman, ordered to be sent to the Minister of Education.

Dr.: To balance from last year, £103 7s 2d j Q-pvernment grants, £190Jj school commissioners, £107 15s 7d ; rent-, £IS ; school fees, £125 3s 9d; scholarships, £12 12s. Total, 2266 18s 6d.—Cr.: By purchase of building*, £12CO; repairs aiad alterations, £259 3s; school fu-oiture, £Ll3 12s 3d; school requisites, £7 6i 4d j salaries, £490: secretary, £10; fires and cleaning, £13 '&$; insurance, £6 10s; printing and ?dve<tising, £33 18s; office expenses, £9 17s; r«tc3, £7 10s 2d; travelling expensei, £35 19s 6<i; legal expenses, £i4> 4n 4J; interest, 3s 4i ; balance Bank of New Z.-aland, £55 13s 7d. W. Wilkinson, Chairman, . R. A. Hbald, Secretary. A Committee was also appointed to draw up a report to be sent to the Education Department, A long discussion ensned as the best manner of dealing with the Endowment, and eventually Mr B. H. Bayldon was appointed Surveyor to the Board, and a decision to survey about IG3O acres into small sections arrived at.
