COUNTY COUNCIL.
We conclude our report of the meeting of the above Council :—
A circular was received from "|he Wairoa County Council asking for the favorable consideration of the following resolution of that Council: —
" That in the opinion of this Council the existing c;-M*itution of the Waste Lands' Bo:ird sliouliFoe amended so as to provide for an elective element beiog represented thereon as well as a nominated orie, and that the G-qvernmenfe be requested to make provision in future Land Acts that for each- County comprised in a land district the Council of such County may elect one representative on tho Board of such land district:—And that each County Council be communicated with asking their co-operation and assistance in the matter (1) By urging the same on the rotica of the Government: (2)tby petitioning Parliament early next sesaum to give effect to the above j and (3) by obtaining the support of members of the Home of Representatives." ,
The resolution was carried on the motion of Cr .JBagnaU, seconded by Cr Carpenter. -^A Letters were read and received from Mr Walker, on behalf of the Pumping Association; from Mr Steedman, informing the Council of the bad state of the bridge leading from the Tararu tramway to Brown and Campbell's battery; from J. C. Fh'th and others referring to tlio WaiUott ferry.* A request of Mr "James Hart and party, of Owharoa, asking the Council to assist them in forming a road or tramway from their workings to, the main road. After some discussion the* Ouah"ttiiiu, Crs Brown and Porter wore requested.to visit the locality and report at next meeting.—A letter from H, JJ, Campbell on behalf of Messrs Donnelly and McLaughlan, asking for oortaiin money claimed by them upon a late contract, and threatening legal proceed, inga.—The Chairman and Cr Thorbura spoko favorably of tho application, bu* regretted that suoh a throat as that con., tamed in tho letter hud been raade.
