Thames Goldfields Hospital.
The usual monthly meeting of the Committee was-held in the Salutation Hotel yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs Ehrenfried (President), Hudson, Eensbaw, Hume, Mcllhone, McCullough, McGowan, Mulligan, Murray, Price, Radford, and the Rev. Father O'Reilly. The minutes of previous meeting were read aud confirmed. t Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from the Rev. Y. Lush, and Messrs Aitken, Comer,- and Marshall. The report of the House Committee recommended that accounts be passed for payme»t as follows : —Salaries, £66 10s; tradesmen's accounts, £47 16s Bd. The bank of the creek running past the Old Men's, Eefuge having been damaged, it was recommended that a stone wall be erected in order to secure it. The patient John King had become troublesome to the other patients, and the Dispenser thought-,he should be removed to some place by himself, which would necessitate the employment of a man to attend him. A bountiful supply of substantial and delicate provisions had been supplied to the patients on Christmas and New Year's Day, owing to the exertions displayed by Mesdatnes Payne, Huxtable, and Hume.
The matt3r of John King was referred to the House Committee with power to act, and the report was thci adopted.—A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the ladies who had been so zealous in pro* viding Christmas dinner for the inmates.
The report of the Treasurer showed the Liabilities : Salaries, £66 10s ; general accounts, £47 16s 8d; bank overdraft, £124 10s Bd. Total, £238 17s <<d. Assets : Cash' balance, £2 6s 9d; subsidy 'diief £82 ]9s lOd; balance, £153 10s 9d. - r . -
The Surgeon stated the number of patients now in the Hospital is 14; there had been three deaths during the month. The number of out-patients was 89. The Secretary stated that jn ; accordance with instructions received he had convened a meeting of representatives of the various Societies, but at the appointed time the only representatives who appeared were from the Protestant Alliance, Rechabite, and Hibernian Societies, and one Court of Foresters, and- the number being very small, the matter w&B referred back to the Committee.
A letter was read from Mrs Hume, enclosing the catalogue of tlie prices of easy chairs on sale by a Melbourne firm, irpm which a selection o; two.chairs should be made on which to expend the money raised by her for the purpose some months ago. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Presidentj,and Mrs Hume. '#■
The House Committee for the ensuing month is as follows : Messrs McGowan, Mcllhone, McCullough, and Osborne.
